The Client

Founded in 1958, Voltigeurs Farm is a family business that has become the largest supplier of grain-fed chicken in Quebec. The business delivers 65,000 chickens per week to a large number of grocery stores and butcheries.

The Challenge

The client didn’t have any real-time production data and didn’t know the exact yield for value-added products. The company knew that the production lines were experiencing downtimes but didn’t have any specific data on how often these occurred per week. Sensing that the digital shift was just around the corner, Junior and his team wanted to jump into industry 4.0 technologies and make their factory smart.

The Solution

Data is collected on 17 stations as well as boning, meatpacking, and cutting operation lines using photo-eye sensors. The most important key performance indicators monitored with Worximity Smart Factory Analytics on these lines are the speed and the output of chickens or turkeys after each process. With that type of information, management can either choose to increase speed or the number of quantity produced to optimize production.
